How to Fill Different Styles of Bags with Powder

How to Fill Bags With Powder

If you are in a business that sells powdered products like drink mixes, dry ingredients, or a powdered dye, you should consult this guide on how to best fill our packaging bags with powder. We measure the capacity of most of our bags using two measurements, coffee beans, and ground coffee. We do this because our bags can hold less solid objects like coffee beans than they can powdered materials. If a 9 x 15 cm stand-up bag holds 30 grams of coffee beans, then it can hold 60 grams of ground coffee. When it comes to filling our different styles of bags with powder, let's take a step by step approach to understanding how to perform this task.

SlickSeal™ Bags

Our SlickSeal™ stick pouches are sleek and compact. The open end makes them great at storing powder because there is nothing for the fine particulate to get stuck in. Use these stick pouches to store single serving drink mixes for quick mixing.

To fill our stick pouches:

  • Pinch the bag open with one hand to increase the width of the opening of the bag.
  • Using a 1/4 tsp scoop, add one spoonful of powder.
  • Repeat until the stick pouch is full. Remember to leave some empty room towards the top so you can heat seal the bag.
  • Place the open end of the bag on a heat sealer, press down on the heating arm, and wait for the light to blink three times.
  • Remove the bag from the heat sealer and inspect the seal.

QuickQlick™ Bags

Our QuickQlick bags also make fantastic powder packaging bags. The reliable zipper seal allows the customer to remove their desired portion of powder, then reseal the bag to maintain the freshness of the product. Powder that is exposed to air and moisture will harden and become difficult to mix. No one wants to receive clumpy and caked powder.

To fill these bags and maintain the freshness of the contents:

  • Steady the bag with one hand, and squeeze the edges to create a wider opening.
  • Use a 1/4 tsp scoop to dispense the powder into the bag.
  • Repeat until the pouch is full.
  • Pinch the zipper seal shut.
  • Place the extra flap of material on a heat sealer.
  • Press down on the heating arm. Wait for the light to blink three times.
  • Lift the arm, remove the bag and check the quality of the seal.

StandStrong™ Bags

Our StandStrong™ bags are the best at holding large quantities of material. The durable bottom gusset will expand as the bags are filled, increasing the internal capacity. The bottom gusset also allows the bags to stand up on flat surfaces like countertops and tables.

To fill one of our StandStrong™ bags, simply:

  • Unfold the bottom gusset.
  • Open the zipper seal, and squeeze the edges to increase the width of the opening.
  • Using a ¼ cup scoop, add one scoop of powder into the bag.
  • Repeat until the bag is full.
  • Press the zipper seal close.
  • Place the extra flap of material on a heat sealer.
  • Press down on the heating arm and wait for the light to blink three times.
  • Lift the heating arm, remove the bag and check for gaps in the sealing.
